But Who Do You Say That I Am?

Have you ever been in a social setting having pleasant, trivial conversation when the subject matter abruptly changed? Maybe someone brings up a controversial political topic, or confronts someone in the group aggressively. If you are like most people you look for the most immediate way to get in the shadows and fly under the radar. But sometimes you are the one put on the spot and you have to give an answer. In our text this morning, Jesus does something similar with his disciples. "Who do you say that I am?" It is not only the turning point for Mark's gospel; it is the turning point in a human life. Take some time to read Mark 8:27-38.
